What Is KenKen?
KenKen is a Sudoku-like number puzzle with math cages. Every row and column must contain each number exactly once, and each outlined cage must combine to match its target using the operation shown.
How To Play KenKen
Start with the cage clues in the upper-left corners. A 6+ cage means the numbers inside add to 6. A 2รท cage means the two numbers divide to 2. Single-cell cages give the exact number for that square.
A Move Is Wrong If
- A number appears more than once in the same row.
- A number appears more than once in the same column.
- A completed cage does not match its math clue.
Beginner Tips
- Use single-cell cages first, then look for two-cell cages with only a few possible pairs.
- Remember that rows and columns cannot repeat numbers, even when a cage clue allows repeats.
- Use notes when a square has several possible values.
